Canva for Education- for Free!!

Many of you have used Canva previously in your classes for many purposes. If you haven’t, let me introduce you. It is a free website that allows students to create professional looking graphics. It can be used to create posters, infographics, or more!

Here are some examples of what we have created with Canva:

While it was free before, there were some features that you needed a pro account to use. The good news is that Canva is now offering Canva for Education, free to teachers!

Some of the benefits of the Canva for Education account are:

  • Teachers get a free Pro account, which means you can use additional graphics for free
  • You can set up a class in Canva. This means you can see your students work and it simplifies the process of sharing it with the teacher.
  • There are education specific templates available to use!

To sign up for Canva for Education, contact Elizabeth Cooper for the link or look for the link the Staff Team. Unfortunately, the link cannot be shared here, since it should be only shared with staff. You simply need a ncpachina.org email address and you will instantly be upgraded to the Canva for Education account.

Linking Calendly to your Canvas for Office Hours

Some of you mentioned that the “Quick Links” on the Canvas blueprint were not hyperlinked. This is something you may need to set up yourself. For the “Request a Reassessment”, we do not have a common form for this. Feel free to use Microsoft Forms or another method for this.

For the “Schedule an Office Hours Appointment” you may want to use Calendly to make this more efficient.  Calendly is a free tool that can be used to schedule appointments, similarly to if you wanted to schedule a haircut in the U.S.  In the free version, you can have one event available only (you cannot have two events, one for each class) and you can only do one-on-one meetings.

Here is how to set up your Calendly and link to Canvas:

  1. Set up an account on Calendly
  2. Create the event and adjust settings to match your Office Hours
  3. Copy the link
  4. Go to “Edit” on your Canvas Homepage
  5. Click on the picture for “Schedule an Office Hours Appointment” and link it to your Calendly using the toolbar on the top.
