Students receive a NetID account to use while they are studying at NCPA. The NetID gives students access to Office 365 and other school services. After students leave NCPA, their accounts are deleted. Once an account is deleted, all e-mail and files in Office 365 are deleted and the e-mail address stops working.
Graduating Students
After seniors graduate, they may keep their accounts for 90 days following the graduation date. After 90 days, the account is deleted.
Withdrawing Students
Withdrawing students’ accounts are deactivated immediately following withdrawal.
How to Save E-Mail and Files
After the account is deleted, files and e-mail cannot be recovered and the account cannot be deactivated. Before an account is deleted, students may save their e-mail and files in a personal account.
- Make a copy of OneDrive files on a flash drive in order to copy them to a personal computer or upload them to a personal cloud account like Google Drive or iCloud. To do this, first sync OneDrive files to a computer (instructions). Then, drag the OneDrive folder on the computer to an external USB flash or hard drive.
- Inform colleges, banks, movers, insurance companies, etc. not to use your NCPA email for correspondence. If they have your NCPA email on file you should update it with your personal address so they can get in touch with you after you leave NCPA.
- If you used your NCPA e-mail to sign up for a gaming service or online subscription, change the address you use for those accounts to a personal address.
- Make a copy of your school email, if desired. You can use a transfer protocol called POP3 to download a copy of your mail into a personal mail account. For example, you can input your Office 365 Outlook mail settings (here) into your personal Gmail, and then tell Gmail to “get all messages” from your work email (instructions).
The IT Helpdesk in the eLC can assist you with these instructions during normal school hours and during study hall.
